Waddlers
1 to 2 years

Welcome to Plateau Early Learning Center’s Waddler Program!

At PELC, we  will nurture your child’s natural curiosity and sense of wonder while providing a safe, loving, and engaging environment. Our Waddler program fosters development during this important stage, where toddlers are eager to explore, learn, and connect with the world around them.

Infants

At PELC, we  fashion  an attentive, hands-on, creative, caring, and nurturing learning environment that supports the individual growth of every child.  We build a strong early learning foundation that will last a lifetime. We value:

  • Attentive Care: Every Waddler has unique needs and interests. Our educators are  fully present, responsive, and engaged with each child.
  • Hands-On Exploration: Toddlers thrive when they are actively involved in their learning. Our program encourages children to engage with materials and activities that promote sensory exploration, motor skills, and problem-solving.
  • Creative Expression: Through art, music, and imaginative play, we encourage Waddlers  to express themselves and explore their creativity.
  • Caring Relationships: Building positive, trusting relationships is at the heart of our approach. Our teachers are kind, patient, and nurturing, creating an environment where children feel safe to explore and grow.
  • Nurturing Environment: Our classrooms are designed to be warm, inviting, and child-friendly. We focus on creating a space where children feel respected and loved.

Daily Activities

We fill our daily schedule with enriching activities that align with the developmental needs of Waddlers:

Morning Circle Time

Each day, we will gather around a welcoming circle where children participate in songs, stories, and simple games. We build social skills and prepare your child for the day ahead.

Sensory Exploration

Waddlers love to touch, feel, and experiment with various textures and materials. Our sensory tables offer opportunities to explore water, sand, playdough, and more.

Creative Arts

Finger painting, coloring, and simple crafts allow toddlers to express themselves freely and discover the joys of creativity. We provide age-appropriate tools and materials for maximum engagement.

Outdoor Play

Time spent outdoors is essential for physical development. Our playground encourages active play, climbing, running, and balancing, helping to strengthen gross motor skills and coordination.

Story Time & Music

Interactive stories and songs are incorporated into our daily routine. These activities enhance language development and introduce children to rhythm, rhyme, and storytelling.

Our Curriculum

We focus on developing key areas of growth for waddlers

Cognitive Development

Waddlers are introduced to concepts like shapes, colors, numbers, and letters in a playful, hands-on way. Our curriculum includes games and activities that stimulate curiosity and learning.

Language & Communication

We encourage verbal communication through songs, storytelling, and conversations. Our teachers actively engage with children, promoting vocabulary growth and listening skills.

Social & Emotional Development

At this stage, toddlers are learning how to interact with peers and express emotions. We foster a caring environment where empathy, sharing, and kindness are emphasized.

Physical Development

Through guided play and activities, we help waddlers develop fine motor skills using their hands for drawing and stacking, and gross motor skills with walking, running, and climbing.
